One of my favourite things about doing couple shoots in Johannesburg is that grungy urban feel you get from the images, and how that contrasts with the natural photography of a couple in love. Phindi and Thokozani just celebrated their wedding at Memoire wedding venue in Muldersdrift this last Friday (and what a wedding it was, thanks to the amazing Precious celebrations; watch out for their wedding featured in a forthcoming issue of Nubian Bride)!
As many of you know, I always include an ‘engagement’ – or pre-wedding couple – photo session in my packages. It affords me the chance to get to know my clients better, understand what they are comfortable with, and what they prefer not to do. Clients like Thokozani and Phindi make it easy to take great photos – they are relaxed with each other, they ignore the camera and just focus on each other. That’s how I’m able to capture such relaxed but intimate couple photos – I help my clients forget that I’m there.
We shot their stylish casual couple shoot in Maboneng. We tried to capture some of the iconic inner-city Jozi shots but we also aimed to get something a little different while still getting those amazing photojournalistic shots that I love. I’d love to hear what you think – share your thoughts on my Facebook book page. If you’d like to get in touch with us about shooting your wedding, you can check out my website and send my assistant an email – we’d love to hear from you.
