All weddings are beautiful in their own way, but not because of the flowers on the table or the dresses of the bridesmaids. Even the bride – with her hair and makeup professionally done, and a stunning white gown – is not what makes a wedding truly lovely. The true beauty of a wedding springs from the people who bear witness to the marriage between two individuals.
Carmen and Paul’s wedding was one of the most exquisite I’ve ever had the honour of photographing: very person in attendance celebrated this long-awaited celebration of love with their whole heart. Festive Lebanese dancing! Drumming! A Catholic mass with so much soul your heart swelled! A happy beginning for two people devoted to one another.
And then there was Carmen and Paul themselves. Each of them had journeyed through their life guided by their Christian faith, trusting that the sometimes disappointing journey would ultimately have a happy ending. Until one lovely autumn April day, it did. Except that end was really just the beginning of their happiness.
Theirs is a very special wedding to my heart: as family, I was extremely honoured to capture the timeless grace of my gorgeous cousin Carmen and the fun, lighthearted nature of her groom Paul. But more than anything, I was overjoyed to capture the splendor of families celebrating their unity through the marriage of Carmen and Paul.
